Xiaoqin Wang, Ph.D.

Professor, Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, Johns Hopkins University
Xiaoqin Wang is an innovator in the field of physiological and computational approaches to further understanding of vocal communications mechanisms. He directs the Laboratory of Auditory Neurophysiology in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang’s research interests include neural mechanisms underlying communication sound perception, structure and function of the auditory cortex, neural bases of vocal production and learning, development of vocal production and perception, and computational neuroscience. In 1999, he was awarded the coveted Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and auditory neurophysiology from Johns Hopkins University.
