Riitta Hari is a pioneer in the field of magnetoencephalography (MEG) and brain imaging. She and her colleagues have created and tested innovative magnetoencephalographic recording and brain mapping methods, and have conducted studies documenting real-time brain activity patterns in behaving healthy subjects and in many classes of neurologically and psychiatrically impaired patients. Dr. Hari is a member of Academia Europaea, the Finnish Academy of Sciences and Letters, and of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. She holds both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki, and has honorary doctoral degrees from the University of Lisbon, Portugal and the University of Kuopio, Finland.
