Video: Dan Buettner on How to Live to Be 100+
I saw this video posted on the Brain Training 101 Facebook page and immediately felt compelled to share it with the Posit Science community. Researcher Dan Buettner talks about some of the world’s identified “blue zones”–areas of the world in which people live to be over 100 and remain mentally and physically healthier than the rest of us even into very old age. Buettner describes the unique combination of diet, lifestyle, genetics, and outlook that creates these vibrant centenarian communities across the globe. A fascinating watch! Enjoy.

UVB is also important for longevity.
Buettner made one of 3 longevity studies in the past 15 years. They all appear to not notice that those who live a long time spend a lot of time out-of-doors or at high altitude – both of which increase UVB and vitamin D. There are some excellent studies which show decreased Mortality with vitamin D. see VitaminDwiki – which has over 1000 files on vitamin D.
By the way – almost done with 2nd Brain Fitness disc, and really feel the benefits. Had previously felt that I was going down an aging slope about 5% per year. Now I have recovered 10 years worth of aging, and no longer going down at all. Also, I have found a way to measure one aspect of the improvement – able to listed now at 2.2X faster than real-time. Before brain fitness my fastest speedup was 1.5X. Am looking forward to 3X faster – which is the speedup factor used by a blind engineer at Google.
